Harvesting cannabis with Green Source Gardens
In late September our team spent a few nights at Green Source Gardens in Wolf Creek. We helped in the garden, getting the cannabis flowers ready to harvest while nurturing a connection to one another and to the land where the cannabis we infuse into our products is grown. It feels important that our team members know what the farm feels like, to have a personal understanding of the vitality of the life force that expresses itself so strongly in the biodiverse gardens at Green Source. Itβs something that is difficult to communicate with words, but easy to feel. There is an intuitive knowing that activates when we witness the dynamic balance of a diverse web of life.
Regenerative agriculture is a powerful solution to the challenge of climate change. It sequesters carbon while building soil health and increasing biodiversity. Green Source Gardens is showing us that these practices also grow better crops, all without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, and with minimal external inputs. The only things that they source from beyond their farm are still found locally: hay and wood chips.
Embracing regenerative agriculture has only upsides. The only thing we have to loose is our egoic insistence that we know better than nature.
